About Saranya
Saranya Treichel is an abstract painter based in London.
She has synesthesia, a neurological crossing of senses. She sees sounds, words and feelings as colour, and her paintings record what she sees. Each one starts from a specific experience, perhaps a person, an interaction or a place, and is built up in layers of acrylic on canvas until the colour and composition match what she felt. She paints intuitively, and a finished piece often shows her something new about her own emotions.
Her practice is rooted in abstraction and still life. Patterns and objects from everyday life and nature reappear in her paintings, miniaturised and abstracted.
She studied Advertising and Brand Design at Ravensbourne, where she founded a painting society and organised art markets for student artists. Her work has been shown in group and solo exhibitions in London, Italy and Switzerland.
Open to commissions, and collaborations with galleries, venues or interior designers.
